Outgoing TAG Education Collaborative Board Chairman Passes Baton

PointClear's Dan McDade Completes Term; Jabian's Chris Reinking Takes Leadership Reins

ATLANTA (Jan. 23, 2012) – PointClear founder and CEO Dan McDade has completed his two-year term as chairman of the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) and has passed the leadership baton to Chris Reinking, partner and co-founder of Jabian Consulting. The immediate past-chairman of TAG-Ed, the foundation established by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) to strengthen Georgia’s workforce by promoting STEM (science, technology, education and math) education for middle- and high-school students, will remain on the TAG-Ed board of directors.

“TAG-Ed is fortunate to have attracted talented, committed individuals to serve in leadership roles and on the board of directors,” said Michael Robertson, executive director of TAG Education Collaborative. “As an organization we are dedicated to build our momentum, expanding existing programs and creating new ones in order to have an even greater impact on STEM education in Georgia,” he said.

Robertson added, “Over the past two years, under the leadership of outgoing chair Dan McDade, TAG-Ed nearly doubled its two signature programs: WEBChallenge and the High School Student Internship program. We also raised more than $130,000 for STEM education in Georgia through our annual wine auction and fundraiser, The Vine Event.”

“I am pleased with what we have been able to accomplish to date,” said McDade. “The TAG-Ed programs provide significant opportunities to our state’s young people—giving them exposure and encouragement in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering and math,” he said.

“The mission of TAG-Ed is a win-win proposition for all involved,” he added. “We’re not only helping students reach their potential, we’re helping our employers by enhancing their access to a local talent pool. In addition, we’re involving TAG members and leveraging their resources in this worthy effort.”

Newly named chair Chris Reinking has been an active member of the TAG-Ed board since 2009 and most recently served as chair of the board development committee. He has been instrumental in TAG-Ed’s expansion and will provide the strategic leadership and direction for TAG-Ed’s newest program, TAG Education Link, which connects technology community volunteer efforts with STEM education initiatives.

“TAG-Ed programs address the critical talent shortage the technology industry is facing,” said Reinking. “I am proud to take the helm for an organization that is responding to this challenge with exciting ways to engage students in STEM subjects and help them understand the opportunities that are available for technology careers.”

Serving on the TAG-Ed board of directors, in addition to Past-Chair McDade and Chairman Reinking are: Kent Antley, Miller & Martin, PLLC (past-chair and current secretary/treasurer); Josh Bouk, Veramark; Jim Denny, Navicure; Karen Hallacy, Georgia PTA; Sharon Hendricks, Forsyth County PTA; Jim McManus, NewsCertified; Richard Millman, Georgia Tech’s CEISMC; Sig Mosley, Imlay Investments; Phil Regnault, Hitachi Consulting; Katherine Spencer Lee, Robert Half International; Tino Mantella, TAG; Steve Schilling, S2 Ventures; Fred Tanzella, CIRRACORE; Nancy Treaster, Verint Systems; and Carrie Wheeler, CBeyond, Inc.
