IKEA Donates 100 Backpacks that PointClear Employees Fill With
School Supplies
NORCROSS, GA (August 8, 2006) – For the third consecutive year, PointClear, LLC, (www.pointclear.com) is helping children in the Gwinnett County school system to go back to school with needed supplies. The Business Prospect Outsourcing™ company announced today that its employees have raised funds through internal programs to purchase supplies used to fill 100 backpacks. The backpacks were donated by home furnishings retailer IKEA Atlanta.
Norcross-based PointClear specializes in Business Prospect Outsourcing and is committed to corporate programs that support community philanthropic efforts. Past charitable events undertaken by the ten-year-old company have benefited North Atlanta Ministries, the Partnership against Domestic Violence, the American Red Cross and numerous other groups.
According to PointClear President Dan McDade, the generosity of the company’s employees is a catalyst in PointClear’s charitable giving programs. “Our employees feel a strong sense of responsibility to give back to the community by supporting local non-profit organizations. They decide which charities to support, and this year alone we’ve planned eight separate fundraising events, including a blood drive,” he said.
IKEA Atlanta’s donation made it possible for PointClear employees to exceed their initial goal of 75 filled backpacks – instead, they were able to deliver 100 filled backpacks. Extra supplies that did not fit into the backpacks were also purchased and are being donated to the Gwinnett County school system.
PointClear voiced their appreciation for the many other local businesses and individuals in the community who also supported the program through donations.
This year, PointClear’s employee backpack drive was held in conjunction with a larger effort organized by Norcross Cooperative Ministries. Shirley Cabe, coordinator for the backpack drive at the Norcross Co-op, stated that the collected items will go to children in the Gwinnett County school system who might otherwise not be able to afford needed school supplies. “The backpack drive helps put these children on equal footing to benefit from education. We’re appreciative of area businesses that support this important initiative,” she said.
